CAROL JOHNSON AND BISHWELL BARBARA
The
following is from the FEI World Singles Championships at www.worldsingles.org:
"Carol is in the lucky
position of having two horses which she has alternated through the season in national events.
The more experienced one is Bishwell Boy, a ten-year-old Welsh x Hackney, who was recently
described by a fellow competitor as 'Concorde on legs' as he sped through the obstacles.
The marathon is undoubtedly Carol's strength and throughout the season, whichever horse she has been
driving, she has scarcely been beaten in this phase. Calm in the other sections,
Bishwell Boy lights up when he sees the obstacles and is extraordinarily quick and responsive.
This is his fourth season in national events - he was driven only very lightly in his first season. Carol is working on improving his dressage and has had some
good results this season. When this horse was competing in novice classes, she worked with Lady Joicey,
both in ridden and driven Dressage. Carol comments, 'Lady Joicey says he has the
paces and the ability for good dressage. He needs to settle into it and learn to balance
himself.' Carol's other horse, Bishwell Barbara, is half sister to Bishwell Boy and has really only competed at
national level this season. 'She is amazing,' remarked Carol, 'but I am not sure she would be ready for such a big competition next
year. However, we'll have to see - you never know with horses!' Carol is lying second in the single horse
points league."
