MAKING FAKE (but handsome)
BRAIDS FOR A SHOW HACKNEY'S MANE
(taken from instructions and diagrams by Elaine Blaschke)

1) Take a length of macrame cord (black for bays and 6 strands of "Aunt Lydia's" blended brown and beige rug yarn for chestnuts.)
Experiment for the colors that do justice to your horse's color needs.

2) Tie it in a knot like this:

3) Pull it very tight:

4) Bend both ends together:

5) Take your color choice of regular yarn and wrap it 3 times around the neck of the knot and tie it off:

6) Trim off both yarn and macrame:

7) Glue  trimmed bottom to horse's roached mane:
